The Young Makers Studio!
Young Makers Studio is a five-week after-school creative program for grades 3rd–8th at Artscope in Tower Grove Park.
Led by Teaching Artist Carrie Keasler, young artists will experiment with new creative processes, develop their own ideas, make small handmade collections, and learn how creative work moves from an idea to something ready to share.
The studio culminates in something real: students will prepare and sell their work at the Young Makers Market during Artscope’s Handmade Harvest Fest on October 24.

What Young Makers Will Learn & Make!
Young Makers Studio takes students through an amazing journey of learning of hands-on-creation into creative entrepreneurship, with no prior experience needed! See class details below!
At the end of the Young Makers Studio, students will learn how to package, price, display, and present their handmade pieces which they can sell at the Young Makers Market during Artscope’s Handmade Harvest Fest on October 24th!
This is an incredible opportunity to learn form a well-known Artist, Carrie Keasler, who will guide students learn how to work with new materials, make real creative decisions, build confidence in their own ideas, and experience what it feels like to take a project from first experiment to finished work to market and sell!
Shrinky Dink Pendants
Design original wearable pieces while exploring illustration, color, and shrink plastic.
Printmaking
Carve or stamp a design, then use it to create a small series of original prints.
Hand-Dyed Textiles
Experiment with fabric-dyeing techniques to create colorful, finished textile pieces.
Market Branding + Prep
Develop simple packaging, pricing, and presentation to get artwork ready for market.
Sell at the Handmade Harvest Fest!
Create displays, practice presenting your work, and prepare for the Young Makers Market.
Meet The Artist: Carrie Keasler
With 20 years of experience teaching children and teens, Carrie Keasler is a multi-media artist and educator whose work spans printmaking, collage, writing, and book arts.
What makes Carrie especially exciting for Young Makers Studio is how she guides young artists through the entire creative process, from the first idea and sketch to experimenting, refining, finishing, and presenting their work.
With Carrie’s guidance, young makers will learn to trust their ideas, make thoughtful creative choices, build a small body of work, and prepare it to share and sell at market.
